50mph, fastest part of course. I am bottoming out here in a dip:

Bummer. I was one of 5 vehicles that tried running after the rain. It felt like ice. We called it a day before we wrecked the course or crashed into the woods.

Not bad for my first try! Of course, there were only 2 2WD Modified cars there. I was 12th fastest out of 22:


Lessons learned:

1) Mud is really slippery. I have new respect for the pros.
2) Dry dirt is not so bad.
3) It seems like the more brutal you drove, the quicker stage times got.
4) Due to #3, it seems wise to have a roll cage for this sport. I could've easily rolled the car even on this mild course.
5) Mudflaps protect the paint job very well.
6) Reverse burnouts in mud are VERY messy.

Anyone thinking of trying this, GO FOR IT! Except for one dip where I bottommed out, the course was not damaging to the car.

That looks AWESOME!!!
I guess those snow tires worked out OK for you...I won't be getting a set of those down here in TX, though.

I remember the mud was everywhere-caked inside the rims, wheel wells, brakes, etc...
Holden, did you drive home on thoses tires and if so, any shaking from the wheels being out of balance due to the caked on mud?

There was some mud in the wheels, but I drove home like that because I didn't want to put all that slop in the car. The Azenis got a free ride home!

No shaking either.

I think I spent more time cleaning mud off the car today than I spent driving yesterday.

BTW, the part that bottomed out was the Kami down pipe. All the wrap is ripped off of it.

Yeah I worked the course. First heat as finish timer (dust free). Second heat in the middle of a 50' radius 180 turn. I spent a lot of time holding my breath that heat. Those of us with bandanas ended up "loco bandito" style for some filtering action.

Max: There's NYC, and then there's New York. Two completely different things. Most of New York is farmland or mountainous forest. I suppose I should check the air filter... I'll take a picture if it's interesting. BTW, I left the ram air snout and ducting intact.
